Aasita

On Monday the 17th of June 2019, Aasita attended a GwoGa Master Class held in Croydon at the Archbishop Lanfranc Academy held by Yogaworthit in partnership with Essence of Good Health Free Yoga and Caribbean musician Christian-Joseph Maturin.

This collaboration effort aimed at bringing two disciplines from two continents-Asia and North America- together: GwoKa Dance and music from the French Caribbean island Guadeloupe and Yoga from India.

It aimed at starting off the celebration of both Yoga International Day and Windrush Day taking place in the weekend and promote diversity as well as unity.

During this 2-hour session, partakers sang, breathed, moved, danced and relaxed to the live sound of KA-African drum. Participants explored the space and their bodies in various way including a human mandala formation where they experienced the benefits of supporting and being supported by one another in a safe nurturing environment, which enabled everyone to achieve elaborate complex poses otherwise challenging.

Aasita took the time to message me to share her views on her experience that day:

“Hi Elodie, just wanted to say thank you for putting on a fun filled…high energy yoga programme today.I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to future ones like this. Regards Aasita”
